A non-invasive procedure that is used for the long-term and permanent reduction and even removal of unwanted hair is known as laser treatment. You also enjoy smoother and softer skin with laser treatment, unlike other methods of hair removal.

This procedure works by focusing a laser beam comprised of highly concentrated light directly towards the targeted area. The process generates heat that first discourages and eventually completely destroys the hair and its regrowth potential. A series of treatments are necessary to treat the various hair growth cycles effectively.

Is Laser Hair Removal Right For You?

Laser treatment targets the melanin pigment so hair removal works best on dark colored hair and light, tanned skin. If a patient has a tan then there will be too much pigment (melanin) in the skin so that the laser energy will get absorbed by the skin. Laser hair removal is not appropriate for gray or blond hair because there is not enough pigment and thus it is invisible to the laser beam. Laser hair removal is a popular treatment for embarrassing underarm or bikini line hair, and very good at treating unwanted facial hair.

IPL Hair Removal

If you’re looking for a long-lasting solution to hair removal, our Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology may be for you. Proven safe and effective, this technology uses small flashes of light which heat the hair and the follicles under the skin’s surface. The light is controlled so as not to damage any surrounding tissue. With little to no downtime, this treatment has become a popular option in permanent hair reduction.

As with all laser treatments, a consultation is required to determine if this treatment is right for you. It is important that the hair in question be visible at the time of your consultation. So, do not pluck, wax or shave prior to that visit. Hair shafts must be evaluated for color, thickness, location and follicle density for an accurate consultation to be performed.

Those taking certain medications, herbal remedies or dietary supplements or those who are tan or spray-tanned should not undergo treatment. White, gray and blond hair does not respond to any laser hair removal techniques because there is not enough melanin pigment in the hair shaft to absorb the light energy. This procedure works best on those with darker hairs on a contrasting background of light skin. Underarm and bikini-line hair is usually very amenable to laser treatment.
