Chemical peels can help with almost any skin type by improving the look and feel of your skin. Whether you want to address concerns on your face, eyes, chest, hands, arms, or back, Dr. Cavalli will create an aesthetic plan perfect for your needs.

As we age, our skin goes through a lot, whether it’s from sun exposure, blemishes, or wrinkling. Waiting beneath the upper layer of skin is new skin that is smoother, more youthful in appearance, and healthier-looking. A chemical peel allows you to shed the old skin so that the new skin can be unveiled.

Dr. Cavalli recommends Chemical Peel to:

  • Improve the appearance and feel of skin.
  • Reduce the visibility of age spots, acne and acne scars, freckles, and hyper-pigmentation.
  • Restore fullness in areas of lines and wrinkles.
  • Encourage the body to produce collagen, which can create smoother, younger-looking skin.

Dr. Cavalli combines chemical peels with other aesthetic procedures, including facial fillers and injectables, to achieve the best results. She will review options with you during your initial consultation. If you want healthy looking skin, a more even tone, or a reduction in the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and blemishes, you will benefit from our Chemical Peels.

Chemical peels are equally wonderful for skin rejuvenation and acne. There are various types of chemical facial peels that can aid in skin rejuvenation. Superficial peels generally take 15-20 minutes to complete and the chemical peeling agent (alpha and beta hydroxy acids) is applied to the skin for 3-5 minutes. The hydroxy acids help to exfoliate the upper layers of the skin to restore a more youthful, healthy look. It has been shown that intermittent use of high-strength glycolic acid will not only even out skin texture and pigment but also stimulate new collagen growth. A medium depth peel (35% trichloracetic acid peel) requires more healing days; however, it will also yield better results than with a superficial peel. Breaking through the deeper skin layers, medium depth peels are a popular option for skin rejuvenation. Ask us which chemical facial peel may be right for you.

  • Glycolic add peels: Various strengths of glycolic acid peels, ranging from 30% to 70% concentration are performed in a series of five peels every 2-3 weeks. Each treatment is finished with a growth factor cream for increased absorption to boost collagen response. After these ‘lunchtime peels’ your skin will look and feel radiant.
  • Salicylic acid peels: These beta-hydroxy peels are slightly deeper than the glycolic peels because they penetrate and exfoliate the oily milieu of the pores. They are best for those with normal to oily skin and/or acne. Similar to the glycolic peels, a series of five peels are performed every 2-3 weeks for the best results.
  • Trichloracetic acid (TCA) peels: The 35% TCA peel combined with Jessner’s solution is considered a medium depth peel, which is more aggressive in targeting line wrinkles, pigmentation and precancerous lesions. Because of the depth of this peel and the risk of hyper-pigmentation, it is only performed in the late fall and early winter when sunlight is low. It does require significant healing with average 5-7 days of “down time.”
  • Hydroxy Peels/Home Facials: Dr. Cavalli highly recommends a do-it-yourself weekly regimen of hydroxy acid facials that work overtime to even out pigment and exfoliate skin for a radiant look. Because intermittent use of high-strength hydroxy acids has been shown to stimulate collagen, the home facial consists of a potent mixture of alpha-hydroxy acids and a beta-hydroxy acid that is far stronger than over-the-counter products available. Hydroxy acid facials come in the form of acid-soaked pads which sink into the pores, followed by an application of an acid-impregnated clay masque which soothes and absorbs. The process is finished with the application of a growth factor cream to boost collagen response. Home hydroxy acid facials are an integral part of an anti-aging skin regimen — especially if you do not undergo the series of in-office chemical peels. For those patients who have finished the in-office peel series, the home facials are fabulous at maintaining skin radiance.
